DENIED the experience of a lifetime with her young son, a Hampshire mum lost over six stone in lockdown with the help of a weight lost programme.
Willow Wren, 30 from Winchester bought tickets for her and her 10-year-old son to take part in an indoor sky-diving experience at the iFly centre in Basingstoke.
But at 20 stone, she was told that she was too heavy to take part - which she said left her feeling “terrible”
“I felt like I’d let my son, Rhys down - he was devastated that I couldn’t skydive indoors with him. I felt like a terrible mother.”
In the same week that Willow was banned from iFly, she got stuck in a toilet cubicle which marked “a real low point” for her.”
With a new determination she starting working with WeightWatchers in March.
“I decided to do something about it. I wanted to emerge from lockdown as a different person.”
With the help of their online workshops throughout lockdown, Willow has lost six stone, shrinking from 20 stone 6lbs to 14 stone 2lbs.
“I love that WW’s focus is on mindset, rather than the focus being on a diet,”she added.
The keen pole fitness fanatic is even training to become a WW Wellness Coach for workshops in the Southampton area.
Willow has also started a YouTube channel called Life Being Willow, posting videos showing the highs and lows of losing weight and the challenges she has faced doing pole fitness at a size 24.
She said: “My channel kept me focussed and accountable by sharing my journey.
“People have commented that they like the channel because it’s so real. Looking back on earlier videos, it’s amazing to see how far I’ve come. “
Anna Hill, General Manager at WeightWatchers UK comments: “[Our members] thrive in a group environment, with their coach and community there to support them at every step of their wellness journey. Opening up our workshops as unlimited is a powerful way to enhance the WW experience further - so members can tap into the support whenever they need.”
Online workshops are still available with WeightWatchers and in person workshops restarted on April 12.
