A SERIOUS crime investigation surrounding a Southampton strip club has been dropped.

A probe was launched amid claims that a customer at For Your Eyes Only (FYEO) spent more than £30,000 during an eight-hour-long visit to the lap dancing bar.

Police chiefs had previously urged the city council to review the venue’s licence.

However, it has now been revealed that the case against FYEO which is based in the High Street has been dropped due to “insufficient evidence.

Police confirmed that no further action will be taken at this time.

In the letter obtained by the Daily Echo, Hampshire Constabulary said it was investigating after a customer at the club spent £33,000 from three of his bank accounts.

Based on what was stated in the letter, police believed the man appeared “very drunk”, was seen “vomiting at least twice” and later being seen to be “close to unconsciousness”.

Furthermore, he appeared “so drunk he was unable to use a credit card machine unaided”.

No one was ever arrested in connection with the incident which happened in December 2019

But, Southampton City Council imposed a temporary suspension on the club's licence which has since been lifted.

It is currently closed in light of the covid pandemic, however, a post on the FYEO Facebook page, says it will “hopefully” be open again on June 21, when restrictions are lifted. The Echo has contacted the club for comment and is awaiting a response.
