MORE than 60% of Echo readers polled say they believe that the decision to reopen Bedford Place is not the correct one.
As reported, plans to reopen the Southampton road have divided opinion among business owners and residents.
The road was shut last year to allow local firms to make use of the area for more outdoor seating and ensure social distancing.

Some traders said the move was positive, but others said it was a "total shambles".
But, after winning control of Southampton City Council at the weekend, the Tories are keen to put their stamp on the city, and leader Cllr Dan Fitzhenry told the Echo that he wants to reopen Bedford Place to motorists.

As you can see above, 1,692 (63%) of the 2,686 people to vote say they think the decision to reopen the road is not the correct one.
However, 886 (33%) agree with the plans, and say they want the road to reopen to traffic.
On the poll, Cllr Fitzhenry said: "It is really good to see many people with an interest in Bedford Place and the transport changes. I am really looking forward to working with them to deliver for our city. We will be mindful of all the views that people have expressed."
