CONGRATULATIONS to the Conservatives on their amazing victory at the local polls in the city.
In recent years I have valued the interest of the local Conservatives in social care issues as they have supported people with a learning disability and their families over the fiasco of respite care, particularly at Kentish Road.
I hope that we can now look forward to a common sense approach not only on respite care but also on charging policy and assessments.
It would be an achievement if we could appoint a Director of Adult Social Care who would remain in post for more than a year.
Resources (money) will be tight as plans are laid for the future.
A positive partnership with the imaginative and lively voluntary organisations in the city could lead to cost effective services accurately targeted to those in need.
