A MOTORCYCLIST died after a crash at a Southampton roundabout.

The 50-year-old Southampton man was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

Police were called to reports of a two-vehicle crash shortly before 6pm on Friday, May 14.

The incident at the junction of Lords Hill Way, Rownhams Road North and Lords Hill Centre West involved a Suzuki motorbike and a Vauxhall Corsa.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision or anyone who saw a blue and white Suzuki motorcycle travelling in Brownhill Way or Lords Hill Way to come forward.

A road closure was put in place in the surrounding area, including Coxford Road, Rownhams Road North and Woburn Road, but these have all now re-opened. 

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at 5.58pm yesterday to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcyclist at the roundabout junction of Lords Hill Way and Rownhams Road North / Lords Hill Centre West."

"Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the rider of the motorcycle, a 50-year-old man from Southampton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this time."
