PLANS to turn a former flower shop into a hot food takeaway have been approved.
New Forest District Council has approved an application relating one of six units at a parade of shops in Watson Walk, Totton.
Totton and Eling Town Council had supported the proposal.
In a letter to the district council it said: "It is unfortunate to lose a retail unit within the location. However, it is beneficial to have the site occupied, with employment opportunities."
A report to district councillors said: "Takeaways are a common feature in centres such as this and do play a role in providing a service that meets the needs of the community.
"As such, it is considered that the provision of an additional take-away use within the centre will not undermine activity, vitality and viability of the centre, which will continue to provide the day to day needs of the local area."
