WATER Rescue teams assisted fire crews after "major flooding" was reported in Botley this evening due to a burst water main.

Crews are still attending the incident at Botley Mills on Mill Hill after responding at 17.46.
At 20.39, a spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that "the water flow has stopped", though officers remain on scene.
A tweet posted by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service at 18.46 today stated that fire crews from Botley and Hightown were attending the incident, along with water rescue teams from Fareham.
The tweet encouraged people to avoid the area "if possible."

Southern Water has also been contacted, though there are currently no 'live incidents' in the area listed on their website.
