SOUTHAMPTON police have vowed to do everything they can to tackle the issue of motorbike nuisance in the city.

Officers spoke out after they visited the Weston area and made a series of arrests for a variety of offences.

Writing on social media Southampton Cops posted: "We know motorbike nuisance is a big problem for the communities we serve, particularly on the east side of the city.

"In response to this we asked the proactive Roads Policing Unit to pay a visit to Weston yesterday.

"First off they followed a stolen motorbike. The driver abandoned it, making off from police, but the 15-year-old rider wasn’t able to get away and was located, arrested, then found to be in possession of four bags of drugs.

"His house was searched and stolen bank cards were located. The motorbike was recovered and the investigation was passed on to our interview teams.

"That same evening an uninsured driver who had doctored his number plate with black tape, was stopped. Their motorbike was seized and he is being sent to court.

"Finally the team also stopped (and arrested) a drug-driver who had no insurance or driving license.

"We will keep doing what we can to tackle motorbike nuisance here on the east side of Southampton, in the same way that other neighbourhood teams are tackling the problem in the other areas of the district.

"So please continue to report motorbike nuisance to us - we may not be able to attend immediately as violent crimes will take precedence but we do take it seriously."
