RESIDENTS have been warned after scaffolding was climbed and damage was caused at a Hampshire heritage site.

Over the last few days, police say they have received several reports of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour at Bishop's Waltham Palace Ruins.

The heritage site is currently undergoing repairs with scaffolding and fencing erected around the site.

Now officers say children have been seen climbing the scaffolding and damaging equipment.

They have also been seen throwing picnic benches into the moat.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "As it is coming up to half term this is a timely reminder for parents and carers to speak to their children of the dangers of climbing scaffolding and also about the impact on this type of behaviour has on the users of this historic location.

"I would also encourage parents and carers to ask who their children are with and where they are planning to go."

Anti-social behaviour can be reported by calling 101 or online at www.hampshire.police.uk.
