AN investigation has been launched after a cash machine was damaged at a Southampton supermarket.
Police claim that at 1am today, an ATM was damaged at Tesco in Tebourba Way.
It was reported to officers that two men had been seen approaching the machine shortly before it was damaged.
Now an investigation has been launched to find out what happened.
It is not believed that money was taken according to police but "significant damage" is said to have been caused.
A Tesco Bank spokesperon said: βAn ATM at the Tesco Superstore on Tebourba Way in Southampton is temporarily out of use, following a criminal attack.
"We are assisting police with their enquiries and intend to have the ATM back in service as soon as possible.β
A Hampshire Police spokesperson added: "Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who may have information that could assist should call 101, quoting the reference 44210221357."
