A GROUP of travellers have set up an unauthorised encampment on a Southampton playing field.
Police say they are aware of an unauthorised traveller encampment that has moved to Monks Brook Playing Fields.
It is said that the travellers moved onto the site overnight.
Officers are now working with Southampton City Council and the organisation in control of the land.
A police spokesperson said the aim is to "to ensure the situation is resolved as quickly as possible."
This comes just days after travellers set up camp at Southampton Rugby Club on Lower Brownhill Road.
Southampton City Council has been approached for comment.
