A WOMAN has been seriously injured after falling at a Southampton adventure course.

A 60-year-old woman has suffered a serious shoulder injury after falling over at Ninja Warrior on Bursledon Road.

Paramedics and a helicopter were scrambled to the scene at around 3.20pm on Thursday.

The woman was initially treated at the adventure park in Antelope Park before being rushed to hospital.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We received a 999 call at 3.22pm from Ninja Warrior on Bursledon Road, Southampton, who informed us that one of their visitors had sustained a serious shoulder injury having fallen from a bridge on to inflatables below.

"We sent an ambulance, our Hazardous Area Response Team, a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to the incident.

"The high level of resources were required because the patient, a 60-year-old female, was in a very difficult position to access and get on to a stretcher and into an ambulance, and also required treatment at the scene initially from the air ambulance team in order to ensure she could be moved comfortably.

"She was taken to University Hospital Southampton for further treatment by road."

A spokesperson for Ninja Warrior said: "A 60-year-old guest landed awkwardly on her shoulder whilst on the inflatable part of our course yesterday afternoon.

"Emergency services were called and she was discharged from hospital a few hours later. We have been in regular contact with the lady who has thanked all the staff for their "marvellous care" and added that she can't wait to get back and take on the wall."
