FRESH food from sustainable small Hampshire farms straight to your fridge is the ethos behind this new venture.

Tasty Hampshire is like visiting a really good farm shop or a farmers market for the freshest, most nutritious food, but online, says Tom Valent from the firm.

He added: "It is basically the love child of our climate change concern and us being avid fans of the amazing quality local farm foods.

"We deeply care about where our food is from and how it’s produced, but were struggling with the lack of convenience in shopping an alternative way, away from the mainstream supermarket giants.

"Tasty Hampshire is a one stop online shop for exclusively local food and ingredients of small artisan farmers, growers and food producers of Hampshire, the New Forest and Isle of Wight and a small radius of this region, where there is no alternatives available closer to home."

Tasty Hampshire, which is based in Southampton, specialises in artisan groceries, everything from weekly shopping staples of fresh farm foods to lovely, quirky food gifts.

It was born out of the pandemic, as Tom explains.

"Covid-19 was a positive thing in our business, it was the catalyst really to start Tasty Hampshire.

Due to the lockdowns, we were struggling to source our food from the markets, as there are none in our area. We would not buy factory farmed meats from just any corner shop. This is where the idea came from - and there is no other way to support our local community and economy than shopping local."

Everything Tasty Hampshire sells is local, seasonal and traceable with food miles kept as low as possible. Any meat and dairy they sell is entirely free range, grass fed and pasture raised. And they play their part in sustainability, especially when it comes to food packaging.

Tom adds: "We really think there is no other quite like us. We wanted to take a completely different approach in food retail and help people think differently about the food they put on the table.

"We believe that it’s never been more important to shop local if possible in a way that supports families in our community instead of supermarket chain giants.

"This helps to recover the local economy and provides livelihoods, not to mention the better-quality tastier food that small scale production results in.

"It's the best you can do for your loved ones and for the planet."
