A SOUTHAMPTON school says a "small number" of people have tested positive for Covid-19.

A parent has told the Daily Echo that six people linked to Oasis Academy Lord's Hill have tested positive for the virus in the past few days

In a statement Oasis said: "A small number of our school community have reported they have tested positive for Covid over the weekend.

"In line with advice from Public Health England, we have asked anyone who has been in close contact with those who tested positive to isolate for ten days and their teachers will support them to continue their learning at home.

"Thanks to the extensive measures we have in place, including the year group bubble system and families supporting us by taking lateral flow tests at home, we are able to reduce the potential spread of Covid to other students.

"We continue to work closely with Public Health England and follow their guidance to the letter to ensure that the academy is Covid secure.

"If parents have any questions on this or any other issue, they are encouraged to contact the academy directly."
