A TERMINALLY ill woman is desperately appealing for help to find her beloved furry friend who has been missing for more than a month.

Diane Evans-Wood from Hythe is pleading for help to find her missing cat Luna, who disappeared on May 29.

Diane is terminally ill with a rare ovarian cancer and has already gone through seven years of major cancer treatment including major surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Just two weeks before Luna went missing, Diane stopped her cancer treatment due to side affects and she explained how there is "now little else left" to treat the disease.

Daily Echo:

Diane said: "The whole Hythe and Waterside community have got behind the search for Luna when she went missing, for which I want to relay my sincerest gratitude.

"I’m not well enough to do it all on my own because of the pain and fatigue I get from the cancer."

Despite hundreds of leaflets going out and a comprehensive search by Pet Detectives, Luna still has not been found.

"Without Luna I don’t think I’d have found the mental strength to get up some mornings, Diane explained.

"She gave me a sense of purpose and stuck by my side throughout the darkest of times.

"I have exhausted all the options now for treatment so my ovarian cancer is terminal.

Daily Echo:

"After all that Luna has done for me I owe it to her to do all I can to find her or find out what happened to her. She doesn’t deserve to end her days like this.

"I know cats can go missing for years but I don’t have years to live and it breaks my heart that I might never know what happened."

On top of the heartache brought on by Luna's disappearance, Diane has also been the victim of prank calls.

After including her mobile number on leaflets appealing for help in finding Luna, Diane had a call from a group of people who told her that Luna was dead before laughing and hanging up.

If anyone has any information regarding the location of Luna, they are asked to call Animal Search UK on 08004320340.
