A MOTORCYCLIST has been rushed to hospital after an alleged hit and run incident in Southampton.

A rider was taken to hospital following a crash near the Shell garage on Burgess Road.

The collision involved a Honda CB600 and Volkswagen Passat at around 9pm on Friday.

According to police, the driver of the Passat stopped at first, however, then fled without leaving his details.

Meanwhile, the rider suffered minor injuries.

Officers now want to speak to the car driver who is described as being in his late 50s or early 60s, with grey hair and wearing a hi-vis jacket.

A police spokesperson said: "We have received a report of a collision involving a Honda CB600 motorcycle and Volkswagen Passat on Burgess Road, around 9pm on Friday 9 July.

"The car driver initially stopped, before leaving the scene without exchanging details. The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the vehicle driver, who is described as being in his late 50s or early 60s, with grey hair and wearing a hi-vis jacket.
