THE search for Hampshire’s Best Street Food vendors is back.

The Hampshire Street Food Award will be hosting a free festival named ‘The Big Eat’ in Royal Victoria Country Park on Saturday June 4 2022 to bring together the most celebrated food and drink vendors in the county.

During the event the various stalls, trucks and outlets will be judged by an esteemed panel of food experts and lovers.

The inaugural Hampshire Street Food Awards was first held in November 2019 but was put on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The awards were founded by Jeremy Gaskin, who owns and runs Winchester Vintage Catering - a crepe and coffee kitchen in Jenne, a converted Citroen HY van.

Jeremy told the Daily Echo: “It is no secret that street food vendors have been one of the sectors hit hard by the pandemic, with no events there has been little opportunity for the vendors to get out and set up shop. The Big Eat Festival will give them the much needed chance to get back doing what they do best - serving up delicious and unique bites to the people of Hampshire!

“We want to celebrate great street food and get people out to sample all that Hampshire has to offer, from Dumplings to Tacos and locally distilled gin to homebrewed ale. Vendors wishing to get involved are invited to register their interest via our website.”

The event will be free for people to attend and will include cooking demos, live music, children's entertainment and, of course, amazing street food.
