FAMILIES in Southampton are being invited to experience "The Enchanted Labyrinth" at Westquay this summer.

From July 31 until August 30, families will be able to pick up their activity passport and discover the eight mythical creatures to crack the maze on The Esplanade.

Running from 10am until 7pm each day, those who complete the activity will earn their place on "The Wizard's Tower", a 16.5 metre tall helter skelter which is due to be set up on the site.

Entry is free and participents are being invited to share their pictures using @westquay and #WQlabyrinth.

A Westquay spokesperson said: "Once upon a time there was an Enchanted Labyrinth, created by a great Wizard to serve as a prison for a devious Warlock running amok in Southampton. The Wizard cast powerful spells and enlisted mythical creatures to serve as guardians.

"Those troubled days have passed and the Warlock is gone, but the guardians remain at their post and much of the magic still lingers.

"Countless adventurers have dared to enter but few return to tell the tale. If you keep your guard, you will make it safely through to the heart of the Labyrinth and unlock your ride on the Wizard’s Tower."

More "hidden surprises" are also said to be coming to the area including secret gardens and through the hedge see saws.
