He said: “Charli came to me and said she wanted to ‘Brave the shave’ after seeing an advert on TV - I had to google it to find out what she was talking about.”

On her inspiration for the charitable act Charli’s dad said: “[As a family, we] have lost several friends to cancer.”

"Charli is the sort of child that wants to help everyone. We love and support Charli in everything she does, so having her hair cut off (and then dyed purple) is just another reason to love her more.”

The event was held at Uni Kebab shop on Burgess Road and and attended by councillor for Swaythling Lorna Fielker.

Cllr Fielker said: “Charli is such an inspiration, I really admire the bold statement she is making.

“She knows the value of the support Macmillan give to people living with cancer, and is doing her bit to help them continue with this.”
