AROUND two hectares of hay has been destroyed after a fire started on farmland yesterday.
At 3.22pm yesterday, firefighters rushed to farmland off of Hall Lands Lane in Fair Oak.
This came after a fire started in a field of newly-cut hay.
Using four hose reel jets and beaters, crews from Eastleigh, Botley, Bishop's Waltham and Portchester extinguished the blaze.
Two hectares of hay was destroyed.
The electricity board was also called as it was believed the fire was cuased by a spark from a sagging electricity cable.
Fire crews left the area just after 4pm.
