British Transport Police initially said the injuries were believed to be life-threatening, but later said the victim was "seriously injured".
Officers remained on scene as enquiries into the incident continued.
More details were also given by South Central Ambulance Service.
A spokesperson said: "We were called earlier to Osbourne Road to a situation involving a teenage male.
"We sent to the scene an ambulance crew and three ambulance officers. They were assessing and treating one patient for serious injuries.
"Following treatment at the scene by all our crews the patient was taken to hospital."
A spokesperson BTP added: "Any witnesses who haven’t already spoken to police are asked to contact BTP by text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 222 of 21/07/21."
