BRITAIN'S oldest emigrant was today on his way to a new life on the other side of the world.
The 102-year-old Eric King-Turner has packed his bags and boarded a cruise ship bound for New Zealand.
The sprightly centenarian, who will turn 103 within weeks of arriving, was joined on the 12,000-mile voyage by his 87-year-old wife Doris.
The happy couple were picked up from their home in Titchfield and taken by Mercedes to Southampton docks - and her travelling to Doris's home town of Nelson.
They were greeted by staff of the Saga Rose ocean liner who took their luggage and guided them through the departure lounge and security.
A brass band that was entertaining the waiting passengers marked Mr King-Turner's arrival in the departure lounge with a burst of Cliff Richard's Congratulations..
He said: "I have no regrets and am looking forward to getting to New Zealand.
"I'm most looking forward to better weather."
Eric and Doris, who were both widowed, were married in New Zealand 12 years ago but decided to set up home in Titchfield.
