HUNDREDS of runners tackled an all-new "Covid safe" route as Parkrun returned to the city today.

This morning, the Parkrun event returned to Southampton Common at 9am for the first time since it was forced to stop in March 2020 due to safety concerns.

Following a successful application to the city council to ask for permission to use the site again, organisers planned how they will provide the popular event while keeping participants and everyone in the area safe.

Starting at The Flats, the runners turned right by the Bellemoor Road entrance and headed straight up the hill past the Ornamental Lake until they reached the top.

They then turned right to come back down the hill and at "Sue's Corner", they turned right again to run along the cross path over the small bridge and before turning right again at the end to head back up the hill for a second lap.

On the second lap, runners descended down the the hill along Coronation Avenue, and went straight over at "Sue's Corner" and headed down to The Cowherds.
