THE inquest opened today into the death of a Southampton teenager and mother, Mia Wort.

Miss Wort, 18, of Honeysuckle Road, was a passenger in a car driven by her partner.

Area coroner Jason Pegg said: "Mia died on July 17 at Southampton General Hospital. She was with her partner in a motor vehicle when that vehicle was struck by another vehicle and in consequence Mia Wort passed away in the hospital."

The collision happened on Kanes Hill.

A post mortem was conducted by Dr Adnan Al-Badri who said the cause of death was multiple injuries.

The inquest in Winchester heard that Mia was identified by her mother Mel Stray.

Mr Pegg adjourned the inquest to March 9 next year.
