SIX patients with coronavirus have died in Hampshire within the last week.

Data released on July 27 by NHS England has revealed that six more patients have died in the county since July 19.

It brings the county’s total number of deaths to 1,919.

It has been met with concern from one Southampton MP, who is reminding residents “we are not out of the woods yet”.

Three deaths were recorded at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which brings the total to 442.

The deaths were recorded on July 19, July 21 and July 25.

Another two deaths were recorded at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which brings the total to 919.

These were recorded on July 19 and July 24.

One death was recorded at University Hospital Southampton on July 22 bringing the Trust’s total to 485.

No other deaths have been recorded across the rest of the county’s Trusts.

Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Trust have also recorded 15 and 58 deaths respectively since the start of the pandemic.

MP for Southampton Itchen told the Daily Echo: “These tragic deaths and the number of infections reminds us we are not out of the woods yet.

“We are nearly there but the coming weeks and months will still be challenging.

“I hope people continue to keep themselves and those around them safe.”

As well as this, more than 550 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Hampshire in 24 hours.

Public Health England figures - as recorded on the Government website at 4.47pm yesterday - showed that 551 more people have tested positive for the virus in a 24 hour period.

Across the county, there has been a total of 121,429 positive tests since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 - around 8.83 per cent of the county’s population.

Southampton had a total of 119 new cases bringing the city’s total up to 20,015, this was followed by 54 in Eastleigh, 35 in Fareham, 26 in Gosport, 48 in the New Forest, 28 in Test Valley and 38 in Winchester.

A further 69 cases were recording in Portsmouth as well as 33 in Basingstoke and Deane, 20 in East Hampshire, 19 in Hart, 36 in Havant and 26 in Rushmoor.

Across England, 4.99million cases have been recorded since March 2020 and 114,000 Covid patients have died.

There are 5,163 Covid patients in hospital in England.
