A SOUTHAMPTON nightclub is due to reopen today after it was forced to close due to COVID-19.

On Sunday, The Edge Nightclub on Compton Walk announced the decision to close following positive tests by staff.

Posting on social media the club said staff had been completing COVID tests before every shift and during the closure, the venue would continue to be deep cleaned.

Now though, the club has announced that it will reopen from today with all staff having tested beforehand.

Announcing the reopening on Facebook, a statement from The Edge said: "We are excited to let you know that we will be reopening from tomorrow, Friday 30th July.

"Our team have all completed PCR tests, and we're ready to bring back the dance floor. Thank you for your patience, and your support.

"To welcome you back, we'll have free entry all night this Friday, and only £4 door charge on Saturday!

"We'll be operating with reduced opening hours, and at half capacity for the next few days, and next week we'll be back open as normal.

"Don't forget to help keep small businesses open by testing before coming out."

Revolucion de Cuba Southampton also announced last week that it would be closing temporarily due to staff shortages relating to self-isolation.

The bar said at the time that it would reopen again from July 27 however.
