POLICE have issued a dispersal order after reports of anti-social behaviour being committed in an area of Winchester city centre.

Officers have been told about anti-social behaviour taking place in the Kings Walk area and are “taking active measures to tackle this problem”.

A dispersal order is now in place which gives police powers to disperse groups of people in order to prevent anti-social behaviours.

A police on Winchester Police’s Facebook page added: “Officers can also seize items if they believe they could be used to cause harassment, alarm or distress to the public. Police officers and Police Community Support Officers are on foot patrol today, should you see one of us please say hello and do not hesitate to report any issues or concerns to us.”

It is not known how long the dispersal order will remain in place.
