AN AWARD-WINNING Southampton kebab house has made it to the finals of a national competition.

Uni Kebab has reached the finals of the British Kebab Awards 2021.

Head chef at the Burgess Road eatery, Aziz Gezer, has been nominated for the “Chef of the Year” category.

The multi-award-winning Turkish Restaurant offers freshly handmade and traditional foods.

Last year it scooped the “Customer Satisfaction Award” at the British Kebab Awards.

With a five-star hygiene rating, it also won a Good Food Award in the Quality homemade Food category.

Speaking about his recent achievement, Aziz said: “I feel excellent.

“I am so happy.

“We have been trying to get the award for so long.

“I will feel great if I get it.”

He added, that if he does win the final he will think about opening another restaurant in Southampton.

Based on 275 reviews, Uni Kebab boasts 4.5 out of five stars on the website, Tripadvisor.

Posting online, one recent visitor said: “We dine in and take away from uni kebab often. Always great tasting fresh food and friendly staff. Owners are very generous and lovely people. Beautiful ambience. What else can you ask for? My kids love it, so do I and my husband. Highly recommend.”

Another added: “Very friendly staff, fresh food, and outstanding quality at reasonable prices. One of the best restaurants not only in Southampton but all over the UK.”

The annual British Kebab Awards are run in association with JUST EAT.

They aim to reward the dedication of local kebab takeaway and restaurant owners across the country, recognising their contribution to the economy on a national scale.
