HAMPSHIRE’S population grew last year as UK residents chose to move to the county amid a growing demand for housing.

Newly released figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that the numbers of people moving to Hampshire has grown by 886.

A total of 100,201 people moved to Hampshire, whilst 99,315 moved away from the county according to the ONS figures up to June 2020.

The data is divided within the county by its district councils including Southampton, Winchester, Test Valley, Eastleigh, Basingstoke and the New Forest.

A broad look at the data shows that most people moving to the county are coming from neighbouring counties such as Dorset and Wiltshire and West Berkshire.

The interesting factor is that the majority of Hampshire residents are moving locally and staying within the county, with many relocating to neighbouring Council areas.
