The operation involved the Calshot Lifeboat and Portsmouth Coastguard.
The two paddle boarders were eventually pulled to safety with the incident ending at 8.15pm.
Rescue services have urged people to be aware of hidden dangers at the coast and not to struggle if trapped in mud.
They should call the coastguard on 999 immediately.
Furthermore, anyone in trouble should discourage well-meaning people from helping them.
