THEY’RE the traditional family butchers who have transformed from a modest farm shop to a thriving business with multiple shops and a huge online presence.
Owton’s Traditional Family Butchers in Southampton serves up locally and ethically sourced high quality meat to thousands of loyal customers and an impressive list of trade clients.

Reginald Owton, the grandfather of the current managing director Billy Owton, traded cattle and wholesale meat to trade in the 1920’s and in the 1960s his son Rob joined the family firm.
Founded in 1976 by Rob and Gill Owton, Owton's has established itself as one of the premier wholesale butchers and farm shop businesses in the country.
The shop business has now expanded to add further shops at Titchfield, near Bordon, near Andover and the newest addition at Aldermaston in Berkshire as well as its online shop.
The team from Owton’s also supply hundreds of houses in the Fuller’s chain of pubs.
Alongside big sellers like sausages, burgers and chicken, Owton’s provide speciality meats such as faggots and game. Some of their stores also stock speciality cheeses.
Their hugely popular boxes, available for purchase online, include the BBQ, Lean Meat and Breakfast which contains everything you need for a particular occasion, delivered directly to your door.
The company, which has just invested £5.5 million in a new 22,000 sq ft factory, continued to run their online and physical stores during the pandemic, bringing their customers essential food items. Regulars seemed to take comfort in the idea that despite their usual routines being disrupted, they were still able to get their food shopping from their favourite butcher.
Customers return for the quality grass fed meat, reasonable prices and friendly service. Although now working on a large scale, Owton's always attempts to retain the small business attitude and family work ethic.
