A LOGISTICS company is planning 45 jobs and a £4million investment after announcing a move to bigger premises.

Asendia is expecting to more than double its workforce following the move to Nursling after a big rise in e-commerce business.

The company will transfer 30 staff to the new site from Chandlers Ford, with another 45 jobs to be created by the end of 2022.

Asendia will invest the £4m over the next 10 years and says this will make a “significant contribution” to the area’s economic recovery.

The new site at Adanac Drive, facing the Ordnance Survey headquarters, will focus on e-commerce and direct mail fulfilment and returns handling.

There could also be “hybrid” projects such as the distribution of marketing campaign materials for local businesses, charities, and sports events.

Carl Loader, fulfilment director at Asendia UK, said: “Our new Nursling facility is a fast-developing technology hub with a strong talent base. Our investment in the larger facility translates into creating more jobs for the area and gives us the opportunity to expand our e-commerce fulfilment service.

“We feel very fortunate that during this extremely challenging time for a lot of businesses, Asendia is in a fast growth sector as people buy more online. We are set to go from strength to strength.”

Cllr David Drew, Test Valley Borough Council’s cabinet member for economic development, said: ‘I’m always delighted to welcome new businesses into the borough and Asendia have chosen a great location, with excellent communication links.

“The e-commerce sector is growing fast and I’m certain they are well placed for success.’

Local councillor and fellow cabinet member Cllr Phil Bundy said: “I’ve watched this site develop from inception to implementation, and am very pleased that businesses are moving in and supporting the local economy.”

Asendia’s clients include Boden, Chilly’s, Bali Body and Urban Outfitters.
