A week of film screenings in unique and unusual locations is taking place next month as Eastleigh Film Festival returns for another year.

Following last year's drive-in cinema at Itchen Valley Country Park, the festival is now due to head into the woods for screenings of A Quiet Place 2 and The Descent.

New locations include Barton Peveril College and Crestwood School, which will be showing American high school classic The Breakfast Club and Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade.

Audiences are also being told to get ready for a 1980s white wedding celebration and buffet with The Wedding Singer at the Concorde Club.

As well as this, attendees will also get the chance to experience 2021 Academy Award-winners Nomadland and Sound of Metal on the big screen at The Point, which will also host the festival’s opening night, featuring a concert event with Mick Fleetwood and Friends recorded live at the London Palladium in 2020.

Put together by the team at the Eastleigh theatre, which is operated by Eastleigh Borough Council, the event will take place from September 13 up until September 18.

Tickets are now on sale having started on Friday and Charlotte Hall, Creative Director at The Point Eastleigh, said: “I’m so pleased that Eastleigh Film Festival is back with an exciting programme of events for 2021, all thoughtfully handpicked and matched with quirky settings to provide unique experience for audiences.

“This week of events will take audiences from the dancefloor one night to the woods on another, all in the name of watching and celebrating brilliant film!”

Eastleigh Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy, Councillor Derek Pretty, added: “The Eastleigh Film Festival has become firmly established in the region’s events calendar and the policy of hosting screenings in unexpected venues means that Borough businesses and other organisations have become involved – and have welcomed new audiences through their doors.

"I’m sure we can look forward to another sell-out event.”
