A MAN has been arrested after a number of thefts from vehicles were reported on a village street.

The arrest comes after officers launched an investigation into multiple reported thefts from motor vehicles on Kingsman Drive, Botley.

A concerned member of the public told police that vehicles were being broken into at around 3am this morning.

Officers conducted an extensive search of the area to locate any offenders or any stolen possessions.

They found an individual who residents allege was involved in the incident.

A 52-year-old man from Yeovil has now been arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and vehicle interference.

He remains in custody at this time.

A police spokesperson said: "Information that we received from the community is vital and informs where we put our resources and take action against any illegal activity.

"If a crime is in progress, please dial 999 immediately."
