A HAMPSHIRE healthcare company is set to become to first in the country to trial Tesla cars for their out of hours service.

PHL is set to trial a Tesla Model 3 car in their fleet "to assess the benefits of upgrading their GP home visiting fleet of cars."

They will be the first medical service in the UK to be assessing Tesla car following in the footsteps of other emergency response services such as the UK Police force.

The company will test Tesla’s best-selling model, the Model 3, which has a range of up to 360 miles and can go 0-60mph in as little as 3.1 seconds.

The cars are fitted with 360-degree cameras and forward-facing radar to detect other vehicles.

Ross Brand, PHL CEO said: “The impact of climate change is real, and every company should be evaluating what they can do reduce their impact on the environment.

"As an industry leading company, PHL embraces new technology and for this reason I’m excited to see how the Tesla performs when it joins our fleet of cars.

"We’ll certainly be testing the range of the vehicle as our drivers clock up 100s of miles per shift.

"We hope to inspire other companies to consider the switch to electric cars”.
