A SUMMER programme has helped children and young people reconnect with sports in Eastleigh.
Eastleigh Borough Council's SportWorks team's summer holiday activity programme got back underway this summer as the annual Park Sport programme was able to go ahead across the borough.
More children were able to take part than ever before this year with activities for children aged from five up to 16.
Around 200 activities took place including five SkateJams, 112 activity Sessions from archery to golf, 15 Nerf Events a Mystery Solvers GPS challenge, and 75 Free Swimming slots over the summer holidays.
Cabinet Member for Health, Councillor Tonia Craig, said: “We’re excited to see so many of the Borough’s children and young people taking part and benefitting from the great Park Sport programme.
"We continue to ensure we support residents with a healthy lifestyle and improve wellbeing as we emerge from the pandemic”.
Park Sport is funded by the Borough Council’s SportWorks, as well as the Local Area Committees, Parish and Town Councils.
It is supported by a broad range of partners including sports clubs, activity providers and facilities enabling activities to be highly subsidised - free or just £1.
Now the council is asking those who took part to provide feedback on its website so that it can make improvements for next year's programme.
