UPDATE: The crash has now been cleared and moved to the hard shoulder and all lanes are now open again.
TWO lanes of the M3 have been closed after a multi-vehicle pile-up.
The incident happened on the southbound carriageway between junction 11 for Shawford and junction 12 for Chandler's Ford at about 11.15am.
Lanes one and two are blocked while emergency services deal with the incident.
Travel information service Romanse says there are 40-minute delays heading south, and a traffic map shows disruption as far north as junction 9 for Winchester.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that crews are at the scene of the crash.
They were assessing and treating four patients but two patients didn’t require hospital treatment.
Two have been taken to University Hospital Southampton.
