CHOCOLATE maker Montezuma’s is to open a shop in Westquay next week.

The British chocolate company will unveil its ninth store on Wednesday September 15, the first located inside a shopping centre.

Montezuma’s will be located on level 3, in the unit which was previously Claire’s Accessories.

A total of 15 new jobs have been created in Southampton by the chocolate-maker, which also boasts a store in Winchester.

Montezuma’s is known for its iconic bright colours enticing chocolate lovers through the doors of its stores, which enjoy a number of exclusive chocolate choices.

Daily Echo:

Taking centre stage in the new store will be a truffle servery, piled high with ‘naked’ chocolate treats, while a selection of gift boxes will provide the perfect present for every occasion.

Signature ‘Choc-o-Blocks’ include Like No Udder with salted caramelised hazelnuts, white chocolate with raspberry, dark chocolate with mango and chilli, dark chocolate and lemon and milk chocolate with pistachios and almonds.

Helen Pattinson, co-founder of Montezuma’s, told the Daily Echo: “At just 30 miles from our HQ and factory, Southampton has been on our radar for a long time so when Westquay were finally able to offer us the perfect unit, we snapped it up.

“It will be our first venture into a shopping centre, so our biggest challenge has been to ensure our quirky and creative approach to chocolate jumps out at shoppers.  It’s been a huge team effort from our chocolatiers to our designers and our shop-fitters, but I am convinced this is our brightest and boldest store so far!”

Montezuma’s Southampton will open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
