A HUNT has been launched for a man who was seen beating a dog, according to an animal welfare charity.

RSPCA officers have launched an investigation after being sent a footage of a man believed to be beating a dog.

The charity was made aware of the video - from a Ring doorbell or security camera - after it was posted on Instagram.

Officers are now trying to trace the man and where the incident happened.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA, said: “Someone came across the video on Instagram and reported it to us.

“The camera appears to be a Ring device that records when there is motion or when someone rings the doorbell and it has picked up footage within the hallway of a property, which could be the communal area of a house or block or flats. The video captures a man hitting a white Staffie-type dog.”

RSPCA officers have been carrying out enquiries and believe the footage was filmed in the Southampton area some time in March.

The Instagram account that posted the video also posted a photo of the dog, stills of the man.
