EMERGENCY services rushed to a New Forest beach yesterday following reports of a person falling over the cliff edge.
Southbourne Coastguard and South Central Ambulance Service arrived at Barton on Sea between 1.30pm and 2.30pm to what they suspected was a casualty who had fallen over the cliff edge near to Beckon Bunny.
However it soon transpired that the casualty had not fallen over the cliff but had tripped whilst walking along the shoreline and struck their ankle on a rock causing what appeared to be a fracture.
The casualty was packaged onto a stretcher and the team caterpillar them over the rocks.
Once transferred from the cliff stretcher to the ambulance, crews were able to leave the scene and the casualty was taken to hospital for treatment.
