A SOUTHAMPTON man is due in court for riding an e-scooter when above the legal alcohol limit.
Pawel Szmydki has as been charged with driving a motor vehicle when above the alcohol limit.
The 31-year-old, of Brunel Road, will appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court later this month.
It comes following an incident at around 9.25pm on September 5 when police stopped a man riding an e-scooter on Wimpson Lane.
Commenting on social media, the Hampshire Constabulary roads unit, said: "There has been a lot of publicity around E-scooters and the use of them (They are illegal to use unless part of the government trial scheme) - Last week we found a male riding a rental E-scooter who was intoxicated - He blew 87 and therefore will be off to court.
"Riding an E-scooter under the influence of alcohol/ drugs is the same as driving a car under the influence - You risk losing your driving license! Other road users had to take action to avoid colliding with the driver - Don't make yourself more vulnerable."
