A HAMPSHIRE school is facing a £4,000 repair bill after vandals smashed windows over the winter holidays.
Staff returned to The Romsey School after the Christmas break to find that 14 windows had been broken while the building in Greatbridge Road was closed.
Now staff are warning that the cost of repairing the damage will have to come from the school's own budget and that pupils will have to go without new computers and sport equipment.
Head teacher Gareth Bell said, "The school cannot be insured for this kind of vandalism so the money must come from the school's own budget.
"I bitterly resent having to divert money away from other worthwhile areas to repair this mindless damage."
Police are appealing for information. If you can help, call Sgt Mike Sandison on 0845 045 4545, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
