A 17-year-old teenager has been arrested following a three-car pile-up outside a Hampshire station.

Police arrested a 17-year-old male following a crash on the Avenue in Fareham.

A Vauxhall flipped on its roof causing severe disruptions to traffic.

The incident, which also involved a Honda and a Fiat, happened shortly after 4pm on Thursday.

The westbound carriageway of the A27 was closed with motorists diverted away from the area.

According to police, three people suffered minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called out at 4.07pm yesterday afternoon (16 Sept) to reports of a three-vehicle collision outside Fareham train station.

"A Vauxhall, a Honda and a Fiat were involved in a collision, resulting in the Vauxhall leaving the road under a bridge and ending up on its roof.

"Three people received minor injuries as a result.

"A 17-year-old man from Fareham was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs. He was later released under investigation."

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 15:53 to the Avenue in Fareham to a three-vehicle collision.  We sent to the scene two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer.  They were assessing and treating patients and just one was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital."
