A MAN is in hospital in Southampton after suffering serious injures during an incident in the city.

Hampshire Police and South Central Ambulance Service were called to the junction of St Andrews Road and New Road at about 3.30pm on Saturday following concerns being raised for the welfare of a man.

The man, in his 30s, had sustained 'life-changing injuries' and was rushed to Southampton General Hospital.

Police are now asking the public for help to establish how the man was injured.

Detective Inspector Craig Fielding of Hampshire Constabulary, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone in the local area who may have seen what had happened or was in the immediate area just prior to the incident.

"Specifically, we are seeking to identify a woman who spoke to paramedics at the scene and may hold vital information, which could aid our investigation, as to the exact circumstances of how he sustained his injuries.

“If you were in the area at the time and saw what happened, it doesn’t matter how small or insignificant you believe the information you might have, it could prove invaluable in establishing exactly what happened.

"We would implore anyone with information to please come forward.”
