A MAN has been taken to hospital after a motorcyclist crashed into a taxi and a passenger in Southampton before riding off.

Last night, a motorcycle collided with a taxi and passenger on Peartree Avenue, Southampton.

The licensed tax had been parked at the roadside collecting passengers at the time.

The incident took place between 11.50pm and 12.10am this morning.

Following the crash, the motorcyclist is said to have failed to stop and ridden off.

A man in his 20s was then taken to Southampton General Hospital.

He suffered minor injuries and was taken as a precaution.

Now police have launched an appeal for the public's help in their investigation.

The motorcycle is described as being either silver or black.

A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who has any information, after a motorcyclist failed to stop after an accident in Southampton.

"We have conducted a number of initial enquiries but are now asking the public for help. Were you in the area at the time? Did you see what happened? Perhaps you have CCTV or doorbell footage in the area?

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 44210376049."
