MOST of the 31 areas in Southampton appear to healing from the pandemic.

Public Health England’s latest data shows that in the week to September 17, only seven districts reported an increase in case numbers.

Two of the districts reported no change when compared to the previous seven days, and the remaining 22 reported a decrease.

Those with an increase are: Banister Park and Howard Road (25 cases, up 9); Bassett Green (12 cases, up 1); Bitterne East (28 cases, up 12); Coxford and Lordshill (26 cases, up 14); Regents Park and Millbrook East (28 cases, up 4); Shirley South (26 cases, up 13); Sholing West (11 cases, up 6); Woolston (19 cases, up 3); and Upper Shirley (34 cases, up 12).

Southampton as a whole recorded 611 cases, down 137 cases or 18.3%.

This left the city with an average infection rate of 241.6 per 100,000 people.

In the same period, seven days to September 17, Hampshire recorded 3,334 case – down 403, or 10% when compared to the previous week.

The Hampshire data does not include cases from Southampton or Portsmouth.

Clusters are shown when there are three or more new cases reported at any one time.

Anywhere with between zero and two cases are shown in white in order to "protect the privacy of individuals and prevent disclosure", the Government organisation states.

There were no areas of Southampton that recorded fewer than three cases in the seven days to-July 14.
