HARRY Redknapp has turned down Newcastle United to stay at Portsmouth.
The former Saints boss will remain on the south coast instead of replacing Sam Allardyce at St James' Park, it emerged this morning.
Redknapp, 60, who lives at Sandbanks in Dorset, was last night backed down to an overwhelming 1/7 favourite for the Magpies top job with Ladbrokes.
It is thought that he held talks with the Tyneside club last night but after considering the move overnight, Redknapp arrived at Pompey's Eastleigh training ground this morning - the team are due to depart for the north-east to play Sunderland tomorrow - and told reporters he was staying with the club.
