IT IS hard to get bored in a place like Southampton.
As new students settle in, they will discover things to do across the city.
But to bridge the gap between being a fresher and an experienced resident, we have put together this list of things to do:
1. Shuffleboard at CRIB
There is more than just food and drink on the menu at this new bar in Southampton.
CRIB in Bedford Place is one of a handful of venues in the city to offer shuffleboard – a game involving weighted pucks and a narrow table.
It is one of the only bars outside of London to offer this.
It is also home to huge 24 inch pizzas – could you be the first to finish it all?
2. Alpine Snowsports Centre
The Alpine Snowsports Centre in Southampton is a great venue for new and experienced snowsports fans.
Its artificial surface is ideal for skiing, snowboarding and a bit of fun with Donutting.

3. Tenpin
As the name suggests, this venue in Auckland Road is home to top-quality bowling alleys.
But that is not all you can do at Tenpin – for it offers an escape room and laser tag.
There are also table tennis and pool tables available.
4. Mayflower Theatre
Southampton is home to one of the top theatres outside of London.
The Mayflower in Commercial Road attracts thousands of visitors a year and often stages West End shows on tour.
Upcoming shows include Grease and Chicago.
5. Live Music
Southampton is famous for its bustling live music scene.
From new and upcoming bands, to well established musicians, there is a stage for everything in the city.
Keep an eye on events at: The Brook, Portswood Road; O2 Guildhall, West Maralands Road; The Joiners, St Mary Street; Engine Rooms, Westquay Industrial Estate; The Loft; The 1865; and Southampton Jazz Club.
6. SeaCity Museum
Students can learn more about the city at this museum.
Based at the heart of Southampton, it tells the story of the people of the city, their lives and historic connections with Titanic and the sea.

7. Exciting Escapes
Do you fancy solving a mystery or two?
This establishment in Shirley High Street is perfect to break the ice with new roommates and peers.
You might uncover evidence of a murder during the Cold War of the 1950’s.
Maybe take on Nazi spies in the 1930’s.
