THIS could be one of the most sought-after industrial estates in Southampton.

A semi-detached unit with office space at City Commerce Centre was both sold and let on the same day.

Flude Property Consultants agreed terms for the sale to a private investor and finalised the letting of the unit within 12 hours.

A number of companies and individuals were interested, but it was grocery delivery business Getir UK that took out a six-year lease.

“Judging from the amount of enquiries and interest in the unit, it would have likely been possible to let the unit or sell it, several times over," said Flude senior surveyor George Cook.

"The industrial market continues to perform strongly and there is still more demand than the supply can meet. City Commerce Centre, therefore, remains a crucial and relevant business space location in the Southampton market."

Turkish brand Getir is growing in popularity across the UK as it offers a click-and-deliver service for groceries.

Despite not being open to the public, the store will still look like a conventional supermarket with aisles and shelves.

But instead of customers, there will be 'pickers’ to fulfil orders and deliver.

Mr Cook added: “The simultaneous sale and letting, presented some unique challenges, but due to a collaborative approach taken by the seller, purchaser and lessee, under our guidance, we were able to make sure that all parties achieved their goals and we were able to complete both the letting and sale on the same day.

"Which of course, on a personal level, was incredibly satisfying and demonstrates Flude Property Consultants commitment to providing our clients with an expert and bespoke service."

The 5,000 square ft property at City Commerce Centre, off the A33 in the city centre, comprises an industrial unit that is internally arranged as storage on the southern side.

It has and as an open plan office space with a bathroom, kitchen and reception area on the northern side and boasts parking for five cars and space for loading.

“Southampton represents the leading commercial and administrative centre for the south coast, it has over one million diverse residents living within 10 miles of the city centre and has one of the UKs top Universities, so would be an excellent location to move a business too, or indeed start one,” said Mr Cook.
