A POP up arcade is set to open in Westquay today.
The family entertainment centre, which comes from the team behind popular High Score in East Street, boasts dozens of titles all free to play and unlimited once you've paid your one off entry fee.
Opening to the public today, the arcade is positioned opposite Five Guys and close to the Showcase Cinemma de Lux and boasts over 40 playing positions and 60 different titles.
Expect old school classics, sports games and some of the latest amusement machines to hit the market from Sega and Namco, including lots of Sonic and Pac-Man.
The arcade also features two super-sized 3.5m x 2m video walls, which will host a feature game each month as a centrepiece attraction.
Founder David Field told the Daily Echo: “Following the success of our locations in Newbury, Southampton and Farnborough, we are excited to be providing Westquay with this brand-new leisure activity.
"We have for many years had a desire and passion to build a fun experience for parents to share with their children and in particular, an activity that would be positioned as genuine ‘value for money’ and will have guests leaving with a smile on their faces. We are looking forward to bringing this new concept for locals to enjoy and are delighted to be creating new jobs in these rather unusual times.
“Our vision is to provide a safe and fun experience that grows with the community, creating a positive environment and promoting engagement between families and friends.”
Covid forced a long dreamed of change of direction for the team behind the arcades, which previously hired out its 400 or so games for work places, corporate events and parties.
The launch at Westquay follows success in East Street, which launched just in time for May half term.
£5.95 buys players a pass to play as many games as they like for half an hour.
The High Score pop up will be open from 12 midday to 10pm Wednesday to Sunday.
